Community-Funded, But Self-Sustaining
Unlike traditional universities that rely on government subsidies or corporate endowments, WathHarbor is being built by the people of Kashmir, for the future of Kashmir. However, we must go beyond crowdfunding for construction and establish multiple revenue streams to ensure financial independence.
- Initial funding through public donations & philanthropy: The construction and setup costs will be crowdfunded by the community, Kashmiri diaspora, and well-wishers worldwide.
- Zakat & Sadaqah for 20% underprivileged students: Since Zakat can be used to cover education, hostel, meals, and other essential needs for those eligible, we will establish a dedicated Zakat & Sadaqah Fund to fully sponsor students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Tuition fees with an equity-based model: While there will be standard tuition fees, we will maintain a 20% reservation for underprivileged but talented students, who will receive full or partial financial aid.
